I received an invoice from my alma mater charging me a $300 late fee for a single overdue book. I admit, it was really overdue, but still. It was quite a threatening letter, actually, especially considering how much I paid to go to that school. I’ll never get another copy of my transcript unless I pay it, apparently. Of course, I have quite a few copies on hand, but one never knows. The most ridiculus part is that if I hadn’t returned the book, they would have only charged me the $20 to replace it.

That stinks! I don’t think the fine should ever be more than replacement cost. Like once you get to the replacement cost in overdue fines, the fines should cease and collection begin. Just doesn’t quite seem right.

How is the home health gig going? I am stressed along with every other nursing student about finding a job after graduation (I graduate in Dec 10) and have been looking at home health as an option.

I am LOVING home health, but it isn’t for everyone. You need to be somewhat independent. I was pretty aggressive about my learning during my nursing school experience, so I am doing well, but a lot of nurses benefit from some clinical experience before jumping in. I think things ARE starting to turn around economically. Hopefully the job market will be better by the end of the year!
